The first step of the Joe Wolfinger experiment was a success Friday night at McAlister Field House.

Wolfinger, The Citadel's 7-0 transfer from the University of Washington, proved in the Bulldogs' season opener that he can dominate against a Division III basketball team with no player taller than 6-7.

Wolfinger posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds as The Citadel pulled away late for a 64-45 victory over Kenyon College of Gambier, Ohio. He scored seven straight points during a late 13-0 run that broke open a competitive game.

Guard Cameron Wells added 11 points, nine rebounds and three assists for the Bulldogs, who will take step up in competition when Charleston Southern comes to McAlister on Tuesday night.
