The Citadel wrestling team opened its Southern Conference schedule with an impressive 25-9 win over Appalachian State on Sunday at McAlister Fieldhouse.

The win was the second straight for The Citadel (3-2, 1-0 SoCon) over Appalachian State (4-6, 1-2 SoCon) and seventh in the last 13 meetings.

Turtogtokh Luvsandorj earned his 21st win of the season and 116th of his career. The senior grappler is just 10 wins shy of becoming the winningest wrestler in program history.

College of Charleston’s men’s and women’s swimming teams picked up a sweep of Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah.

The women posted a resounding 172-84 victory. The men’s team took a 147.50-112.50 victory over the host Bee swimmers. The Cougars took nine first-place finishes in the women’s events and six titles on the men’s side.

The College of Charleston women’s tennis team claimed a 6-1 victory over former Southern Conference rival Davidson in Davidson, N.C. The Cougars (1-1) earned their first victory of the season after a loss to South Carolina on Saturday.

The Citadel tennis team fell to 0-2 with a 7-0 loss to 18th-ranked South Carolina (2-0) in Columbia.

The Gamecocks captured the doubles point after winning all three positions. South Carolina won all six singles competitions in straight sets.
