Charleston Southern senior quarterback Austin Brown and freshman placekicker Tyler Tekac have been recognized by the Big South Conference for their roles in the Bucs’ win over then No. 1 Coastal Carolina on Saturday. Brown has been named the offensive player of the week and Tekac is the special teams player of the week.

Brown threw for 252 yards and two touchdowns in CSU’s 33-25 victory over previously unbeaten Coastal Carolina. He also rushed for 30 yards as the offense rolled up 456 yards in total offense.

Tekac connected on field goals of 40 and 25 yards in the second half of Saturday’s game. The Stratford High School product set a career-long with his first try, booting it off the crossbar and through to give the Bucs a 30-15 edge.

Gardner-Webb linebacker Chad Geter was named the defensive player of the week and Kennesaw State safety Taylor Henkle earned freshman of the week honors.
