Charleston Southern 7, Radford 5

RADFORD, Va. -- The Buccaneers won their first conference series opener in almost a year behind Jesse Cadenhead's relief work and Brantley Meier's big day at the plate.

Cadenhead (3-3) was overpowering in the final 3 1/3 innings of one-hit, six-strikeout ball, and Meier drove in three runs with two hits for Charleston Southern (11-17, 2-4 Big South) against Radford (12-11, 3-1).

The Bucs last won a Big South opener on April 11, 2009 against High Point.

The series concludes today with a doubleheader starting at noon.
