Charleston Southern 8, VMI 1 LEXINGTON, Va. — John Faircloth homered and drove in three runs to back a strong outing from Charlie McCready as Charleston Southern rolled past VMI, 8-1, in baseball.

Charleston Southern (19-30, 10-10 Big South) scored in three of the first four innings against VMI (15-33, 7-16).

Faircloth went 2 for 4 with a stolen base and three runs scored, while Chase Shelton went 3 for 5 with a steal and two RBIs for the Bucs, who face VMI today at 1 p.m. Bobby Ison also went 3 for 5 and scored two runs.

McCready (4-4) went six innings, striking out five while allowing one run on two hits and four walks. Zach Hagaman picked up his second save of the season by throwing three scoreless innings of relief.

He allowed just one hit, one walk and struck out one.
