Cassique’s Townsend wins Carolinas PGA

MYRTLE BEACH – Mike Townsend, the head professional at Kiawah Island Club’s Cassique course, shot 71-64-69—204 and won the Carolinas PGA Section Professional Championship played at the Resort Club at Grande Dunes.

Townsend beat out fellow Kiawah Island Club pro Charles Frost, the head professional at the River Course, by four shots. This was the second straight runner-up finish in the tournament for Frost, who has qualified for the 2015 PGA Championship.

Townsend earned $9,500 and an exemption into either the 2016 PGA Tour’s Wells Fargo Championship or Wyndham Championship. He also qualified for the 2016 PGA Professional Championship. Frost already was exempt for that event after finishing in a tie for 10th at the 2015 tournament.
