Newport, R.I. — The College of Charleston women’s sailing team remained in second place, 10 points behind Dartmouth and 20 points ahead of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, after the semifinals of the Eastern Division of the College Women’s sailings National Championships.
Georgetown and Rhode Island trailed the Coast Guard in the Eastern Division.
With their top 9 finish in their division, the Cougars will advance to Wednesday’s finals.
Yale led the Western fleet ahead of Boston College and Stanford.
The Sperry Women’s National Championship finals racing will begin Wednesday with the remaining 18 teams competing for the Gerald C. Miller Trophy over the next two days.
Charleston RiverDogs left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery received the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week Award for games played May 18-24.
For the week, the former South Carolina standout went 1-0 with a 0.79 ERA in two games started with one earned run allowed on four hits, he did not walk anyone and struck out 15 across 11 1/3 innings.
