GREENVILLE -- Furman scored two runs in each of the seventh and eighth innings to overtake College of Charleston and pull out a Southern Conference victory.
The Cougars (23-10, 8-6) took a 5-4 lead in the seventh on Rob Kral's two-run homer, his ninth of the season. Greg Blake went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs with a pair of doubles, but Furman (11-20, 5-9) won its second game of the series with timely hitting and effective relief work in the final two innings.
Will Muzika paced the Paladins with three hits.
Furman mounted its comeback in the seventh. Aaron Thompkins lined an RBI single up the middle to knot the game at 5 and the Paladins took the lead for good two batters later when Thompkins scored on a wild pitch by Charleston reliever Tom Schiller.
Furman added two insurance runs in the eighth, as Will Miller scored on a passed ball and Will Owens drove in another with an RBI single to left.
Charleston and Furman take the field for the final game of the series this afternoon at 1 p.m. at Latham Stadium.
