Charleston Southern will be represented in a total of six events this weekend at the first round of the NCAA track and field championships, hosted in Greensboro, N.C., by North Carolina A&T.
Javon Young and Dantwan Spreads will both be in the men's 100 meters. Spreads will also compete in the 200.
Levi Brooks will represent the Bucs in the 400 dash. Brooks, a senior, will be making his fourth straight appearance in the regional meet. CSU's 4x100 relay team also qualified, posting the 15th-best time in the East.
The Charleston Southern women's lone entry will be Gabrielle Houston in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
Three players have signed to join the Charleston Southern women's program next season, head coach Julie Goodenough said.
They are 5-11 forward Anicia Dotson, an in-state standout of Daniel High School in Central; 5-9 guard Erin Bratcher of Raleigh, also a standout in track and field; and 6-0 guard Rachelle Coward from Nova Scotia, Canada. Coward will sit out the coming season after transferred from the Charlotte 49ers program.
