COLUMBIA — Columbia police say a car was going 90 mph when the driver lost control in a curve and crashed into a building near Williams-Brice stadium, killing all four people in the vehicle.

The report from investigators said rain may have also played a factor in the Jan. 18 crash that killed the 22-year-old driver, Brian McGrath, and three of his friends shortly after they left a bar at 3:30 a.m.

Police say the car was going south on George Rogers Boulevard and lost control on a sharp curve, slamming into a building and catching fire. There were no skid marks on the pavement.

Authorities say reports on whether any the victims had taken any drugs or were drinking alcohol should be released later this week.
