Four Buccaneers are in the top 10, led by Olivia Jordan-Higgins. The senior shot a 75 (+3) on Tuesday and is part of a three-way tie for 2nd individually, at 145 (+1), one shot off the lead. Coastal Carolina, the tournament's No. 1 seed, is second at 604.
--A 68 from Jacobo Pastor led the Charleston Southern men's golf team to a fourth- place finish at the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg.The Buccaneers shot a team score of 297 (+9) on the final day of play to finish at 866 (+2). East Tennessee State captured the event with a three-round score of 847.
Stephanie Saylors threw a complete game shutout and Katie Forbes belted a two-run homer as the College of Charleston (17-18) earned a double-header road sweep at UNC Wilmington (7-29, 2-8 CAA), winning 2-1 and 1-0.
Terri Mesko who entered the game in relief in the third inning, pitched five scoreless innings for the win. Forbes' fourth-inning homer was part of a 2 for 2 game for her.
Stephanie Saylors retired the first 11 Seahawks in her win, and Amber Shiflett's RBI single in the fifth was the game's only run.
The Cougars have now won four straight games.
College of Charleston women's coach Kevin Dempsey announced the addition of Laura Jackson to his coaching staff, beginning this summer. Jackson has served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Maryland women's team for the past two seasons. She was a standout player at Virginia Wesleyan.
