PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Charleston Southern put together a team total of 8-over par for its lowest round of the event to climb two spots to 10th in the final round of the Sea Best Invitational, played Tuesday on the Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass.
The No. 34 Buccaneers passed McNeese State and Jacksonville in the final round to finish six shots behind No. 47 Tennessee in the 15-team field, which included four SEC teams and North Carolina.
No. 19 Florida (-14) ran away with the event, topping second-place Liberty (+9) by 23 strokes. No. 35 Arkansas, No. 21 North Carolina and No. 45 North Florida rounded out the top five.
Florida’s Sam Horsfield (-7) took medalist honors with a three-stroke win over teammate Alejandro Tosti.
CSU hung tough and got a career-low 71 from David Eller to lead push. Eller had three birdies in final five holes to finish at 1-over for the day and 12-over for the event. He tied for 46th.
