Lea Anne Brown and Mark Hoover posted a two-day total of 131 and earned a nine-shot victory over Victoria Tsurutis and George Rasque in the Johnny Adams Mixed Team golf tournament played at Charleston Municipal Golf Course.
Wanda Torres and Frank Johnson finished third at 145 in Flight 1, while the teams of Colleen Estes and Mark Cummings and Diane and Tom Eberhard tied for fourth at 146.
Lynn McCain and Jonathan Smith shot 155 to finish first in Flight 2, followed by Terri Bell-Tommy Mooney, 161, and Michele Ghastin-Billy Butler, 164.
Jeannie Hillock and Chris Pinckney won the Senior Division Flight 1 with a score of 138. Carolyn and Dean Gosnell were second at 142, one stroke ahead of Denise Sterner and Stephen Thomas.
Anita and Dave Marciniak won Senior Flight 2 with a score of 154, followed by Teddy Stockwell-Charley Gibbs, 157, and Linda Inman-Bob Bacon, 170.
Kathleen Sumner of Daniel Island shot 75-73—148 for a four-shot victory in the Girls’ 13-18 age group at the South Carolina Junior Golf Association Players Championship at Hartsville Country Club. The Bishop England golfer also won the Fall Challenge and was the Class AA individual state champion in leading the Bishops to a state title.
Jamie Wilson of Mount Pleasant tied for seventh in the Boys’ 15-18 age group; Drayton Stewart of Charleston tied for third in the Boys’ 13-14 age group; and Luis Thompson and Zach Adams, both of Charleston, tied for third in the Boys’ 10-12 division.
Pinewood Prep golfer J.R. Stark of Summerville has signed a national letter of intent to play at Division I Youngstown State, which is located in northeast Ohio. Stark, who also played football for Pinewood< was SCISA 3-A Region player of the year and a SCISA All-State selection.
Leonard Brooks, Jim Skeele and William Green of the Daniel Island Club shot 231 and finished fourth in the amateur division of the 2015 Lathrop Cup held at Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken. The host club finished first with a score of 220. Bulls Bay, with pro Greg Boyette and amateurs Bill Smunk, Tim Assey and Mark Hoover, tied for fourth at 137 in the pro-am division, also won by Palmetto with a score of 130.
