South Carolina 31, Clemson 30
The tradition-rich BRB predicts what to expect from a mythical Clemson-South Carolina game each week leading up to the actual Braggin’ Rites clash on Nov. 26 in colorful Columbia. The toolbox includes computers, game analysis, special teams contributions and very good guessing.
The BRB gap closes, a good thing for those of us who appreciate fine drama.
Coming off the deck three weeks in a row is one thing; taking a 21-7 punch from Auburn another. Just think what No. 21 Clemson’s offense might be able to do with a decent start. By the way, no player on the Florida State roster has won at Death Valley. Vanderbilt is an easier task for No. 12 South Carolina than Navy; at least the Commodores play conventional football. Here comes the Gamecocks’ most complete performance of the season.
Florida State in its post-Oklahoma depression has to be spent physically and emotionally, at least until Wednesday or Thursday. That has to help the Tigers (though a night kickoff would have helped more). The best part of Clemson having new impact players such as Tajh Boyd, Sammy Watkins and D.J. Howard? The small tape library makes it difficult for foes to scout. South Carolina must let Vanderbilt know early that the SEC East pecking order is in order. Look for Alshon Jeffery to have his best game of the season.
Last week: USC 41, Clemson 28
