Charleston Southern is set to host the Big South Conference outdoor track and field championships today through Saturday at the Bagwell-Settle Track Complex on campus.

The meet will feature many elite athletes, including CSU's own Javon Young, who ranks in the top five nationally in the 100- and 2000meter dash events. He is tied for third in the NCAA in the 100 with a time of 10.17 seconds and is tied for fifth overall in the 200 with a season-best of 20.64. The Buccaneers' Levi Brooks ranks 15th in the country in the 400 meters, having run 46.40 earlier this year.

The meet will also feature Coastal Carolina's Jacques Watson, who is third in the nation, having cleared 7-4 1/4 in the high jump, and Coastal's Jason Flanagan, who is 19th in the javelin.

On the women's side, CSU will be led by sprinters Jessica Thomas and Gabrielle Houston as well as Patria Norman, who will compete in the heptathlon.

Admission is free to the public for the meet, which begins at 10 a.m. today.
