The 50th Trusted Choice Big "I" National Championship junior golf tournament will be held Aug. 6-9 at the Daniel Island Club, the first time the event has been held in South Carolina.

The Big "I" is rated one of the top junior tournaments in the U.S. Boys and girls who have not reached their 19th birthday prior to Aug. 9, 2018, are eligible. The field of 156 boys and girls will be filled through local and state qualifiers held throughout the U.S.

Tiger Woods and Billy Andrade are both two-time winners of the Big "I" tournament. Andrade won back-to-back in 1980 and 1981 while Woods won in 1990 and 1992. Phil Mickelson, Justin Leonard, Webb Simpson, Kevin Na and Jonathan Byrd have also participated in the event. Current University of South Carolina golfer Keenan Huskey won in 2014.

Golfweek Amateur Tournament

Chris Asbel of Charleston won the Championship Flight of the Golfweek Amateur Tour combo event between Charleston, Columbia and Augusta that was played at Orangeburg Country Club.

Fred Dixon of Charleston lost to Mark Ballew in a playoff for A Flight after shooting 78. Sean Kenneck beat fellow Charleston Tour golfer John Saager in a playoff for B Flight honors after both shot 81. Charleston’s David Carlson won C Flight with an 83. Columbia's Mike Bailey shot 91 and beat Charleston Chris Hill and Columbia's Joseph Jones by two shots in D Flight.

Chick Miler Invitational set
