MANNING -- Cleveland Singleton scored Berkeley's first touchdown of the season and the Stags earned their first victory as well Friday night, beating Manning, 9-6.

In the first quarter, the Stags ended their 2011 scoring drought at 155 minutes and 24 seconds when Nick Hill booted a 26-yard field goal to give Berkeley a 3-0 lead.

Manning's Rashad Hilton scored on a 25-yard interception return to put the Monarchs (3-1) up 6-3 at halftime.

In the third, Singleton plucked an offensive fumble out of the air and rambled four yards into the end zone to put Berkeley (1-3) ahead.

The Berkeley defense played strong in the second half, stopping three big Manning drives on downs and forcing a missed field goal.

Before leaving the game with an injury, Berkeley running back Asanti Dantzler rushed for 62 yards in the first half.
