The Charleston Battery agreed to terms with a pair of players Friday by signing defender Kyle Hoffer and midfielder Jose Cuevas.

Hoffer transfers to the Battery after a successful rookie pro season with FC New York that saw him earn USL Pro All-League second team honors. The 22-year-old, who played collegiately at St. John's, scored two goals in 22 games with FC New York.

After the season, the Englewood, N.J., native was loaned to Finnish second division side Ekenas IF.

Cuevas spent the 2011 preseason with the Battery, appearing in the Carolina Challenge Cup games before signing with the PDL's Fresno Fuego for the season. Cuevas, also 22, scored nine goals and had two assists for Fresno. The native of Farmersville, Calif., was selected to the All-Western Conference team.

The signings with the Battery are subject to USL and USSF approval.

Charleston kicks off its 20th anniversary season Feb. 29-March 3 with the Carolina Challenge Cup tournament.
