There's nothing like baby's first holiday season. The little one has no idea it's a holiday, but Mom and Dad are eager to show him off to friends and relatives.

Taking a holiday photo is an annual event for many folks, and we'd love to see photos of your baby, too, and print some of them in the Dec. 25 issue of Family Life.

Here are the guidelines:

The baby must have been born on or after Dec. 26, 2006.

The photo should include only the baby; no parents, siblings or pets. You can dress your child in a creative costume and have a creative background. Christmas cards will be accepted, although we would prefer if there is no print on the photo.

Photos must be for the December holidays. Please do not send your child's Easter or Halloween photo.

Professional portraits will not be used.

Photos can be submitted electronically or via regular mail. The deadline is Dec. 14.

To be considered for publication, entries must include your name, address and daytime phone number, the child's relationship to you and the name of the photographer. Also include, for publication, the child's name, date of birth and parents' names and the city they live in. (For example: John Doe, Jan. 1, son of John and Jane Doe of Charleston.)

Electronic files must be sent as an e-mail attachment as a JPG file at least 300 dpi. E-mail them to brindge@postandcourier.com with "Baby's First Holiday" as the subject line. Request a read receipt if you want confirmation that your e-mail was received.

If you send a hard-copy photo, print the information on the back of the photo and mail it to Brenda Rindge, Features Department, The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403. Photos will not be returned.

We reserve the right not to use photos that do not include the requested information or do not conform to the rules.

Photos and information also will be posted at charleston.net.
