Former Citadel pitcher Asher Wojciechowski was traded today from the Toronto Blue Jays to the Houston Astros as part of a 10-player deal in Major League Baseball.
The Blue Jays acquired pitching in the form of left-hander J.A. Happ along with relief pitchers Brandon Lyon and David Carpenter from the Astros.
Heading to the Astros are outfielder Ben Francisco, right-handed reliever Francisco Cordero, minor-league pitchers Wojciechowski, Joe Musgrove, David Rollins, catcher Carlos Perez and a player to be named later.
Wojciechowski, a first-round pick of the Blue Jays in 2010, was 7-3 with a 3.57 earned-run average in 18 games at Class A Dunedin this season.
In his last 10 games, he was 6-2 with a 1.84 ERA, with 50 strikeouts and 16 walks in 58 2/3 innings.
