Charleston County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a rash of smashed windows at West Ashley businesses early Tuesday morning.
Investigators first responded to an alarm at Up In Smoke on Ashley River Road at 2:24 a.m., where someone smashed the front glass and made off with incense. Next, they were called to broken glass at Carpet Baggers on Marginal Road at 3:07 a.m., officials said.
They found a window at Subway on Savannah Highway broken at around 3:30 a.m. and then at Farmhouse Antiques down the road at 3:50 a.m.
Shortly before 4 a.m. deputies checked other businesses and found broken glass at Riley’s Mexican Café, Lams Garden, and Tienda Senior Miguels in the Food Lion Shopping Center.
Aside from the missing incense, the other stores reported minimal or no thefts, officials said. The investigation continues.
