SENECA — Seneca police say one officer has been demoted and several officers have left the department after sexual complaints by a female officer.

Police Chief John Covington said a captain was demoted to corporal and several officers have left the department after the complaint filed earlier last month. Covington released the information Monday to newspaper and broadcast reporters who filed Freedom of Information Act requests.

He would not release the personnel records of the former officers.

A female police officer filed a report Dec. 1 saying she had received numerous advances by another officer, including two direct propositions of a sexual relationship and instances of touching that made her uncomfortable.

She also reported comments by other officers.

Covington says his office does not tolerate such behavior.
