A second suspect in an armed robbery that occurred in November at the Hanover Corner Grocery Store at 180 Columbus St. has been arrested by Charleston Police.

Johnell Lamar Watson, 23, of Harris Street, was apprehended Friday and is charged with armed robbery. He is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center, police spokesman Charles Francis said Monday.

Police said the robbery occurred about 9 p.m. Nov. 28, when a man armed with a handgun entered the business, went behind the counter, pushed a clerk out of his way, grabbed an undetermined amount of money from the cash register and ran out of the store.

Also last week, Byron Aaron Minter Jr., 20, of James Prioleau Road was arrested and charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Minter is also being held at the detention center.

The investigation is ongoing, Francis said.
