WALHALLA -- A man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after pleading guilty to killing two sisters in an Oconee County home invasion.

Prosecutors said Shawn Owens pleaded guilty Friday to murder.

Authorities say Owens and another man went to the home of 66-year-old Eloise Coley and her then 68-year-old husband in April 2010 to rob them. Owens knew the couple from delivering firewood.

Investigators say Owens stabbed Coley to death, then tied up her husband when he got home and Corley's sister when she came to visit and drove the two of them in the woods and shot them. Corley's sister died, while Coley's husband survived, even though he was shot three times in the head.

Owen's co-defendant pleaded guilty and also was sentenced to life.
