HILTON HEAD ISLAND — Lawyers from around South Carolina are gahtering to discuss a variety of issues affecting their community.

The South Carolina Bar Association’s annual convention gets under way Thursday at Hilton Head Island.

State Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Toal and Bar President Carl Solomon are scheduled to speak to the convention.

Lawyers can attend a variety of seminars on legal topics including criminal law, estate planning and tax law. And the Bar Association’s House of Delegates is also debating several proposed legal practice changes.

The four-day meeting wraps up Sunday.
