COLUMBIA — Police say an 82-year-old woman living in a Rock Hill assisted living home was killed by a nurse’s aide at the facility a day after the woman accused the worker of forging her checks.

Authorities said Pauline Cook died Sunday.

Police say four of Cook’s checks worth $1,200 were made out to 30-year-old Braquette Walton. She was charged Monday with forgery and with murder on Thursday. It wasn’t clear if she has an attorney.

A spokesman for Park Pointe Village says Walton passed a background check when she was hired in July and received good reviews.

Jean Robinson says her sister was so badly beaten they had to leave the casket closed at her funeral. She says her sister had bruises on her arms where she tried to protect herself.
