MOUNT PLEASANT -- There's a $1,000 reward for solving the case of the kitten tossed off Ravenel Bridge.
The reward was announced today by Mount Pleasant Police Capt. Carl Ritchie for "information leading to the conviction of person/persons involved." The money has been offered by a "concerned citizen" whom Ritchie did not identify. Police earlier asked for help from anybody who may have seen the incident.
The kitten died Wednesday shortly after a visitor found it on Waterfront Park about 8:30 a.m. The park is just below the north end of the bridge. The woman who found the kitten told police she heard what sounded like a car horn on the bridge, followed by a thump near the picnic tables. The kitten struck an awning above the tables and then landed on the ground, Ritchie said.
The woman took the kitten to a local veterinarian's office, where it later died.
Ritchie asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the police department at 884-4176.
