Trendlines: lobster with waffle at Nana's (copy)

Red Lobster dropped its "Crispy Lobster and Waffles" this week to a frenzy of publicity, just in time for the national seafood chain's annual Lobsterfest. But they weren't the first ones in this town to think of that.  On Instagram, Nana's Seafood reminded us of an article Hanna Raskin wrote last May about lobster clawing its way onto local menus.

At the time, Nana's was frying up a lobster tail and serving it on a raspberry waffle.

As for Red Lobster's version, it's been described alternately as an "unsatisfying entree" and "it tastes kind of alien ... in a good way." If you want to try it for yourself, Red Lobster has two locations in the area. We probably wouldn't recommend it, but the commercials do make the food look amazingly buttery and delicious.

Red Lobster may be taking the country by storm with its over-the-top creation, but as Nana says, "remember where they saw it first."
