Tim Scott joins fellow Republicans to oppose appointment of South Carolina judge to federal bench

U.S. Sen. Tim Scott has lined up with fellow Republicans in Congress to oppose President Barack Obama's appointment of South Carolina's Alison Renee Lee to a federal judgeship, according to a story posted Thursday on The State newspaper's website.

Lee is a South Carolina at-large circuit judge who was nominated to the federal court more than a year ago. South Carolina's senior senator, Lindsey Graham, also has voiced opposition to Lee's confirmation, according to the story.
