Democrats Sen. Robert Ford of Charleston and Reps. Robert Brown of Hollywood, David Mack of North Charleston and Wendell Gilliard and Leon Stavrinakis, both of Charleston, will host a local party meeting at 6:30 tonight.
The Charleston County Democratic Party will hold its executive committee meeting at the North Charleston City Hall, 2500 City Hall Lane.
The lawmakers will give a preview on the legislative session that begins in January and a recap of this year's work.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Brandon Upson, the party's third vice chairman, and Tyler Jones of SC Forward Progress.
An update on the state's voter ID law also is expected.
Charleston County legislators to gather
The Charleston County legislative delegation will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the College of Charleston for its regular meeting.
The forum provides an opportunity for public comment, but you must sign up ahead of time by calling 740-5855. The meeting will be held at the college's School of Education Health and Human Performance at 86 Wentworth St.
The lawmakers will hear presentations by College of Charleston President George Benson and by Ray Greenberg, president of the Medical University of South Carolina.
Gay, lesbian community to host celebration
Charleston's gay and lesbian community will celebrate Tuesday the repeal of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.
The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Taco Boy, 217 Huger St. It will be hosted by the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, South Carolina Equality, Takeover Charleston and the Alliance for Full Acceptance.
The free event is one of many taking place across America.
