COLUMBIA — South Carolina senators have delayed taking up a bill that would require officers to try to check suspects' immigration status.
The Senate decided Tuesday to wait a day to vote on the illegal immigration measure. The last day of the regular session is Thursday.
Senators must weigh what the House approved last week. Republican Sen. Larry Martin of Pickens said he'll ask senators to approve some minor wording changes. A subcommittee was to hear from the director of the state's labor agency Tuesday, but the meeting was rescheduled.
