COLUMBIA — Gov. Nikki Haley’s public schedule shows she will spend the week in California.
Haley will be in Santa Monica at the Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel Tuesday to speak at the New Majority Los Angeles Organization.
On Wednesday, her schedule shows speaking engagements at the Orange County Lincoln Club and the California Women’s Leadership Association at the Irvine Hyatt Hotel and a Congressional Club Meeting also in Irvine.
The governor’s schedule lists nothing for Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Her spokesman did not immediately respond to questions for more detail about her travel.
Haley's campaign aid Marisa Crawford said the governor will fundraise on her trip, but she did not provide any more details. Haley will fly commercial to and from California and the ticket was paid for by her campaign, Crawford said. She said more details will be available on the trips when Haley files her next campaign disclosure form and updates her voluntary flight log.
The first-term Republican’s travel has been the subject of criticism. An analysis by The Post and Courier showed the governor has flown 54 times since being elected last November and spent at least a month-and-a-half outside South Carolina.
Last week, the governor schedule shows that she visited Daniel Island Middle School for an anti-bullying event, had several economic development meetings and calls and agency meetings. She was also in Hilton head for a luncheon with the Sea Pines Community and Graniteville for a ceremonial bill signing, among other events.
