South Carolina will be seeing a lot of White House contenders this month, with Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton and Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and businessman Donald Trump wooing voters here next week.
Clinton’s campaign announced the former Secretary of State will open her second South Carolina office at 1300 Savannah Highway, Suite 8, and she will make her second campaign visit to the state on Thursday, though no further details on that have been announced.
Huckabee is set to arrive at 11 a.m. Sunday to speak at the Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Manning and will hold another event at 6 p.m. in the Langston Baptist Church in Conway. He will travel to Florence on Monday for four more events.
Meanwhile, Christie — one of more than a dozen GOP hopefuls — is set to hold a “Tell It Like It Is Town Hall Meeting” from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday at the Liberty Tap Room in Mount Pleasant.
At 11 a.m. Tuesday, Trump will hold his South Carolina campaign kickoff rally at Sun City Hilton Head in Bluffton. The event had been scheduled a few weeks ago, but Trump’s campaign postponed it after the fatal shooting at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.
And Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, who is among the many Republican hopefuls, will meet voters from noon to 1:30 p.m. July 27 at the Omar Shrine Temple on Patriots Point Boulevard in Mount Pleasant.
Clinton’s new Charleston campaign office also will hold a grassroots phone bank at 6 p.m. July 27 and a formal kickoff at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 5.
