Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum will return to the Lowcountry on May 22 to speak to the Dorchester County Republican Breakfast Club.

Santorum, who recently visited the Charleston area to stump with GOP gubernatorial hopeful and U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett, has been mentioned as a possible Republican presidential contender.

Santorum said during his past visit that he wants to be part of the party's process of choosing its next contender.

He will speak at the Wescott Plantation Golf Club, 5000 Wescott Club Drive in Summerville.

Those who wish to attend the 8:45 a.m. breakfast should call 873-8851. Tickets for the breakfast cost $35 each, or $100 for the breakfast plus an 8 a.m. reception and photo opportunity.

Santorum was elected to Congress in 1990 at the age of 32, and later served in the Senate from 1995 to 2007. He currently chairs America's Foundation and serves as a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, a Fox news contributor, and a columnist with The Philadelphia Inquirer.
