U.S. Rep.-elect Mark Sanford will take his oath of office approximately 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in the House chambers.

Sanford, a former governor who also held the 1st Congressional District seat from 1995-2001, was elected last week in a special election to fill the vacancy created by Tim Scott’s appointment to the U.S. Senate.

Sanford spokesman Joel Sawyer said today he was unsure which of Sanford’s family would join him at the ceremony. It’s also unclear on which committee Sanford will serve, but that is expected to be decided soon.

Sawyer said Sanford also is working “as expeditiously as possible” to make staffing decisions for his local and Washington’s office.
