Post and Courier on the campaign trail

The opening kickoff of primary season 2016 in South Carolina starts Wednesday morning with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s town hall appearance in Bluffton at 11:15 a.m. and will end long after dark with Donald Trump holding a rally at Clemson University at 7 p.m.

In between will be a succession of stops around the state from the coast to the mountains by Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, John Kasich and Marco Rubio.

One Republican candidate who will not be in South Carolina on Wednesday is Chris Christie. After a lackluster showing Tuesday in the New Hampshire primary, the New Jersey governor reportedly decided to head back to New Jersey and not go to South Carolina to campaign, according to CNN and politico.com.

For opening day, The Post and Courier will cover each appearance across South Carolina, producing live stories, Tweets and video at each stop.

So far, only the Republican side of the aisle has announced appearances, leaving Democrats Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton yet to report their immediate South Carolina events.

Listed below are the schedules of the candidates provided by the campaigns as of Tuesday evening, along with the names and Twitter handles of Post and Courier reporters assigned to each event.

As the campaigns are perpetually altering their schedules, there may be adjustments made throughout the day.
