South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has made Time magazine’s annual list of 10 politicians — not including the presidential candidates — who are worth watching in the coming year.
According to the editors, “The South Carolina governor, a Republican, drew praise for her handling of the Charleston church shooting and the lowering of the Confederate flag. She’ll be in the spotlight again next year as the first Southern presidential primary takes place in her backyard.”
Haley holds a coveted endorsement in the crowded 14-way GOP race for the presidential nomination ahead of South Carolina’s Republican primary on Feb. 20.
Among the other nine on Time’s list are House Speaker Paul Ryan, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Julian Castro, former mayor of San Antonio, seen by some as Hillary Clinton’s potential vice presidential pick.
