Voters in the newly constituted town of James Island might have their best chance Thursday to hear from Town Council candidates.

The forum, set for 6 p.m. at the S.C. Department of Natural Resources’ auditorium, 217 Fort Johnson Road, is expected to include all seven candidates seeking one of the town’s four council seats up for grabs on July 31.

The candidates are Mary Beth Berry, Leonard Blank, Marilyn Clifford, Sandi Engelman, Sam Kernodle, Troy Mullinax and Linda Womack. Bill Woolsey is running unopposed for mayor.

The forum is sponsored by Free James Island, the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area.
