RIDGEVILLE -- The two incumbents held their seats in Tuesday's council election, according to unofficial results.
Nora E. Doctor and Joseph C. Peal were the winners in a three-way race for two seats.
Peal said his main concern was getting a new fire station. The county closed the town's fire station more than three years ago after ruling it unsafe.
Dorchester County has been handling fire protection from a station south of the railroad tracks that run through town. Residents are worried that a train could delay response to an emergency in town north of the tracks.
Doctor, who has been on council for several terms, declined an interview.
Jeff Barrington, a retired federal civil servant, was odd man out in his first run for office.
The turnout was about 12.5 percent of about 500 voters, according to the county election commission.
