COLUMBIA — South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says millionaire developer Donald Trump has been calling about a potential 2012 presidential bid and he’s serious.

Haley’s nod in early voting South Carolina would help in the 2012 GOP presidential primary and Wednesday she added Trump to the list of those seeking her support as they decide on bids.

She’s already met with Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and Minnesota’s Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

Haley said it’s not true that Trump is just looking for name recognition and said that he’s a serious candidate who thinks he can win.

Haley is not excited about anyone in the field so far. She’s telling candidates they’ll lose if they play a traditional whistle-stop campaign in South Carolina.
