CLEMSON – The Atlantic Coast Conference released the 2012 football schedule today, a schedule that includes a daunting opening stretch for the defending ACC champions.
Clemson opens league play with two road games, plays a Thursday game on short rest at Wake Forest and enjoys a mid-October open date.
Clemson will travel to Florida State on Sept. 22 for its ACC opener and travels to Boston College on Sept. 29. Clemson lost in its last trips to Florida State and Boston College in 2010.
Clemson’s open date comes on Oct. 13, a week after facing the Georgia Tech option offense on Oct. 6.
Clemson hosts Virginia Tech on Oct. 20 and will have just five days to prepare for its game at Wake Forest on Oct. 25, a Thursday night game.
The Tigers round out the ACC schedule with a trip to Duke on Nov. 3 and home games against Maryland (Nov. 10) and NC State (Nov. 17).
Clemson opens its season versus Auburn on Sept. 1 in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta as part of the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic. It is the site of Clemson's forgettable 2008 season-opening loss to Alabama.
Clemson plays its first home game Sept. 8, hosting Ball State from the Mid American Conference.
Clemson hosts Furman on Sept. 15, and South Carolina on Nov. 24.
