Why I’m qualified: I have been a resident of the City of Charleston my entire life and have seen the growth, the changes and the challenges that have occurred over the past 30 years. As a business owner and non-profit executive, I know how to work with other business leaders and fellow residents to build coalitions to get results. I have a proven track record of working with other local, county, state and regional leaders on issues.

Goals if elected: Continue to maintain and make Charleston the best place to live and raise a family, secure a new West Ashley senior citizens center, expand retail and commercial development in District 2, support existing and add additional county parks in West Ashley to improve the quality of life for the residents of District 2 and the completion of I-526.

Why I’m qualified: Serving on council and having made a strong difference in the community with crime and quality of life issues.

Why I’m qualified: As president of Wagener Terrace Neighborhood I raised over $100,000 with the Charleston Parks Conservancy and the city and residents to renovate Corinne Jones Playground. I worked with city and county officials to get a recreation lane and sidewalks crosswalks into Hampton Park. I lead the drive to have James Simons rebuilt as a Montessori public school. I was awarded the citizen Koon Award for community service.

Goals if elected: A city ultimately is about welcoming children. If a child feels welcome then everything falls into favor. Safe sidewalks, great playgrounds, inviting parks, powerful schools. Families buy neighborhoods not houses.

Why I’m qualified: As a property owner, a landlord and owner of two businesses, and the only candidate that works every week in the livability court in the City of Charleston, I have been engaged in noise and pollution issues in the city for several years. I have also been a member of the Charleston County Board of Assessor Appeals for over four years and I constantly fight to keep property taxes low for homeowners.

Goals if elected: I would like to grow Charleston’s economy by making Charleston the most business-friendly city in the state and region. To do this, I will work to decrease and eliminate, when necessary, government regulations and fees that only hamper business growth. I will also work to streamline processes so businesses have less government red tape to jump through when establishing, managing and growing their businesses.

During my time on council I have served on the boards of the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, been elected secretary/treasurer of the Charleston Area Rapid Transit Authority, chairman of the Audit Committee, and served as board members of the Gibbes Museum of Art and the Cooper River Bridge Run.

Goals if elected: When I ran for City Council four years ago, I committed to spend two terms working to improve infrastructure, attract private investment and small business to Charleston, and rethink our transportation model for the next 50 years. We have made significant progress on all fronts and I would like to spend a second term in further pursuit of these projects.
