More than 250 runners and walkers are expected to participate in the 10th annual 8k for H2O Feb. 25 on Folly Beach.

The race starts at 9 a.m. Feb. 25 in front of the Folly Beach Fishing Pier. Registration is $25, with $5 off for students at the College of Charleston, the Medical University, The Citadel and Trident Technical College. College of Charleston student organizations with five or more participants get $10 off. A valid student ID must be shown when race packets are picked up, starting at 7:45 a.m. the day of the race.

The College of Charleston Masters of Environmental Studies Student Association is organizing the run/walk to raise money for the S.C. Maritime Foundation’s Horizons Extended Day Learning Program, a local after-school program on environmental education and ocean literacy.

A silent auction before and after the race will feature items from locally owned businesses. The race raised almost $6,600 last year.

The race will be held rain or shine. The top male and female runners in each age category will be recognized. Every participant who registers in advance will get a T-shirt, with T-shirts while they last for those who register on site.

Register at or on site the day of the race.
