Bernie Sanders returning to S.C. next week

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will make a quick turnaround trip to South Carolina, hitting three stops in one day Sept. 12.

Sanders, an independent U.S. senator from Vermont, will hold a town hall meeting in Columbia, followed by stops in Florence and Rock Hill.

He will be accompanied by prominent academic, author and activist, Dr. Cornel West.

Sanders, who is within striking distance of front-runner Hillary Clinton in several polls, was in the state two weeks ago, holding a rally in North Charleston that drew more than 3,000 people.

His itinerary:

11 a.m. Benedict College Town Hall Meeting, Benedict College, HRC Arena, 1600 Harden St., Columbia.

4 p.m. Florence Town Hall Meeting, Florence Civic Center Arena, 3300 W. Radio Drive, Florence.

7:30 p.m. Winthrop University Rally, Winthrop University, The West Center, 701 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill.

All the events are open to the public, with the doors opening one hour before the start time.
