Authorities are asking for help finding two people who they say used stolen credit cards to buy nearly $10,000 worth of computer equipment from the King Street Apple Store.

Someone stole the wallet containing four credit cards, a diamond tennis bracelet and diamond studded earrings from Medical University Hospital on Dec. 1, according to the university’s public safety department.

On that same day a couple used the credit cards to buy $9,808 worth of computer equipment from the Apple Store on King Street. The couple told employees that they were from Costa Rica. They both spoke with a Spanish accent.

The couple later tried to purchase three gift cards worth $450 from Target in Summerville but all three purchases were declined, according to the public safety department.

The male suspect was about 6-foot-1, 160 to 180 pounds with short black hair slicked back with gel. He was in his mid- to late-30s. The female suspect was described as being about the same age. She was described as about 5-foot-3, 140 pounds, with long, curly brown hair with blonde highlights.

Anyone with information about the theft or the suspects is asked to call the public safety department at 792-2261 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111. Tips to Crime Stoppers are confidential.
