North Charleston police are searching for a 26-year-old man believed to be lost in the Ashley River following a boating accident early Sunday morning.
About 3:30 a.m., officers were called to Rivers Edge Marina (formerly Duncan Boat Harbor) at 4354 Bridgeview Drive to investigate a possible boating accident.
Witnesses told police Preston Scott Guyse of. North Charleston drove to the boat landing and placed a boat in the water for a test run, according to police spokesman Spencer Pryor.
Guyse was not far from the landing when witnesses saw him fall overboard when the boat tilted, Pryor said.
A woman told police the boat kept going around in circles where the victim fell in and the boat may have hit him. She said she then ran to a nearby gas station to call police, Pryor said.
A variety of emergency workers and divers responded to the area. But as of this morning, the victim has not been located, Pryor said.
