A North Charleston boy who told his mother he had been fondled by a woman Saturday had in fact been touched by a transgendered male, according to a police incident report.
About 6:15 p.m. Saturday, North Charleston police were called to an apartment on Graham Street by a woman who reported that her son had called her and said he had been fondled by a woman. The boy's mother went to the apartment to confront the alleged abuser.
When police arrived, they found "the suspect was actually a transgender Hispanic male," the report said.
The victim told police that he and a friend had banged on the suspect's door and asked if they could rake leaves to earn money. He said the suspect told them he didn't have any leaves, but they could pick up aluminum cans behind the apartment. Only the victim went around back to pick up cans, the report said. When the boy returned to the front door, the suspect asked if he knew how to work a television, the report said. Once the boy was inside, the suspect grabbed him, the report said.
Roger Jaldin, 29, of Graham Street in North Charleston, is charged with lewd act with a minor. He is being held in the Cannon Detention Center on $25,000 bail set Monday.
