Charleston police have arrested a mother and her son and accused them of cooking up a scheme in which the mother was robbed and intentionally shot in the stomach at a West Ashley gas station where she worked in 2003.
The investigation into the $6,000 robbery scheme culminated Thursday with the arrest of Sandra Davis, 45, and her 22-year-old son, Joshua Floyd, both of Hanahan.
Davis and Floyd are each charged with conspiracy and giving false information to police. Davis also faces a breach of trust charge, and Floyd also is charged assault with intent to kill, Charleston County Detention Center officials said.
They were released from jail this afternoon. Police said another family member helped to solve the case.
