LITTLE RIVER — Police say an argument resulted in the deaths of two men who shot each other, including one man who was found in a blazing SUV.
Horry County police had first believed the two Monday night deaths involved a drive-by shooting, but now believe an argument at one man’s home in Little River provoked the fatal confrontation.
Deputy county coroner Tamara Willard says the two men are 32-year-old Marlin Coward and 28-year-old Branden Alston. A third person was wounded by gunfire but doesn’t face charges.
Police found Alston in a burning Ford Bronco on S.C. 31 Monday night shortly after discovering Coward’s body at his home. It’s not clear how the vehicle caught fire.
Investigators believe the two men traded shots at Coward’s home before Alston left the scene.
