Demonstrators in Charleston gathered at the Battery Sunday morning for a rally and confronted Sons of Confederate Veterans members. Later in the day two different demonstrations took place in Mount Pleasant.

The homeless advocacy group Uplift Charleston gathered at White Point Garden, attracting about 60 protesters before the group walked over to the Battery. They wanted to counter the group who honors the Confederate battle flag and soldiers' monument. By the end of their three-hour demonstration, the group swelled to about 150.
